A group approached me to provide a service to their customer base through an elaborate referral service they had devised. Since payment first went through their system before coming to me, I asked to tape and analyze the conversation. The results from their comments were chilling. I believe this analysis has saved me money, litigation, and stress.

For obvious reasons I was not given permission to share the audio. But I can recount a portion of the transcript, without violating confidentiality. All comments shown were spoken by the group representative.

 

Forward:
Not, you know, nothing is written in stone
Reverse:
"Bringeth the money on"

 

Forward:
Being from that we only sort of
Reverse:
"Total family want us need money"

 

Forward:
Because then they would be given the phone number to call in
Reverse:
"They were criminals who never give it up"

 

Forward:
You know, something
Reverse:
"Give us, give us money"

 

Who knows better than you?

In addition to giving logistical data and revealing hidden motivations, RS can help you to bypass your own insecurities and fears and abort self sabotage. During a self talk session, I was lamenting a difficult situation at work and in exasperation said, "I don't know about this place!" My own reversal placed responsibility firmly where it belonged with the clear exclamation, "Self is the problem."

 

Forward:
I don't know about this place!
Reverse:
"Self is the problem"

 

This simple statement lead me to examine and adjust my attitude toward the project I was involved in, and consequently see it through to a successful conclusion. Talk to Youself

This woman is discussing retirement plans and possibly changing location for her new business. Her reversals indicate caution and the need to rely on intuition ("feeling") when examining the possibilities.

 

Forward:
I think probably a year or two after I retire
Reverse:
"Feel the market"

 

The same theme is seen when she considers a target market.

Forward:
I would like to cater to more the middle class business
Reverse:
"Sense it"
